Excellent for Field Work I bought the Bad Elf Pro since I had a vision of using my iPhone in GPS only mode for field work. I have a CDMA iPhone 4. If you turn off the radio, the GPS goes off too. The Bad Elf Pro has allowed me to take my iPhone out into the field and locate myself on custom-made field maps (using a 3rd party app to display geoPDFs). Great GPS receiver for iPhone/iPad pilots So far I have no complaints and am glad that I decided to go with the pro instead of the pro+ or Garmin GLO. Great when paired with Apple devices, workable with others. If you have an iPhone or iPad to handle reprogramming of this unit, it’s a great choice. If you don’t, be warned that programming and updating this unit isn’t possible without an Apple device to assist. AFAIK, there’s no compatible Microsoft or Android updating software. There IS a free “bluetooth GPS” app for Android that enables Android devices to work with this unit for navigation purposes, and it works with my Surface tablet as long as I don’t engage “airplane mode”…
