Not helpful, according to a guide at Glacier I bought two of these bells in preparation for a trip to Glacier National Park. I must say that they are really nice bells, and if you center the bell and magnet correctly in the bag, it does muffle the bell pretty well.However, when we arrived at our lodge in Glacier I asked our host (an experienced trail guide) if bear bells are recommended or not. He said no. Apparently studies have shown that bears don’t recognize the bells as anything significant, so bells aren’t considered…
