Motorola T600 radios are well made but fall far short on expected range I bought a pair of these mainly for emergency use during tropical storms and hurricanes when cell phone towers might be disabled. My girlfriend lives — as the crow flies — about a mile and a quarter from my house to hers and I want a way for us to be able to stay in touch when cell phones are out. My husband took his with him on a mountain biking trail relatively close by our house near the Wasatch Front. I stayed home and we were able to pick one another up clearly on the low frequency. If it sounds muffled, open and plug back the plugs Works as advertised, but here’s a tip they should have included in the user’s manual as we almost returned our radios before we found out about it… If you take these through an elevation change i.e. up to the mountains, open the audio jack plug and the charger plug to equalize the pressure.
