About MSR
MSR is part of a company named Cascade Designs, started by three friends and former Boeing engineers — Jim Lea, Neil Anderson, and John Burroughs — who were laid off from the aeronautics giant in 1971. Outdoor enthusiasts looking for the next great gear idea, they went on to design the world’s first self-inflating mattress, the Therm-A-Rest. Today, Cascade Designs remains a private, family-owned company that has grown to be one of the most respected outdoor manufacturers in the world.

Best stove out there if you can handle the noise. I’ve owned the MSR Dragonfly Stove for about five years now. If you like a stove that you won’t have to fiddle/tinker with that sips fuel and allows decent control over heat output this is your stove. The stove has never failed me and lights first time every time. It’s fairly compact and stores in the handy pouch that is included. As others have noted, it is noisy. So much so that some of my campmates have said that its a deal breaker. That’s okay, they can keep complaining/fiddling…
Rugged stove with percise temperature control Fantastic stove for alpine hiking, winter hiking, or for extended trips. I have used the stove when the wind was howling (probably gusting to around 30 to 40mph) and the temps were around -6F. The Dragonfly fired right up and didnât seem to be bothered too much by the wind. Usually in high wind conditions I will create a small wall out of snow or other materials, but in this case there really wasn’t too much available. I used a couple of rocks to secure the windshield, but otherwise the stove…
Service required right out of the box, hopefully smooth sailing from here. I’ll update as needed. I just got this and I’m putting it through it’s paces before I use it in the field. This brand new stove had very low output. I tried it three times with the same result to make sure I didn’t have a pressure or seal issue with the bottle. I tore it down and cleaned it, there was no gunk, it did not look previously used, the jet was clean, the needle was clean the adjuster chamber was clean and clear. I re assembled and it worked perfectly. The only odd thing I…
