The fire striker that is included will start the tinder ( you will have to expand the tinder by pulling it apart into a cotton ball type) the emergency blanket is large enough to build a pup tent with to stay dry for a day or two, possibly longer if you are careful not to tear it, and block the ends…
Excellent product for value The S.O.L. Scout kit a very good value for what you get! The blanket is top of the line for this type of item and is much better than the typical mylar blankets that sell for a buck. The mirror is a very high quality item as well although a slightly larger model would be a little better. Useful, but needs some tender loving care. There are three items here of real value for survival: the water proof bag, the emergency blanket and the whistle. I bought these for my two 13-year old girls to take with them when we go hiking in case we get separated and they get lost. They have the big orange blanket and the whistle to help us find them and to keep off the weather. The other stuff like fire starting and fishing is cute, but inadequate if needed, especially without training and a good knife. I dumped this stuff and added a…
